PORTARLINGTON GOLF CLUB WINS TWO MAJOR AWARDS AT THE 2013 VICTORIAN GOLF INDUSTRY AWARDS.
- 2012/2013 Victorian Regional Pro – Am of the Year.
- 2012/2013 Victorian Regional Pro – Am Course of the Year. This award backs up winning the same award in 2011/2012.
Both awards were presented on Saturday night at a Gala function held at the MCG. The Victorian Golf Industry Awards is a joint initiative between the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) , Golf Victoria and Golf Management Victoria and are considered very prestigious awards. The awards recognise the dedication and hard work of the Clubs staff and many volunteers who make this event such a success.
The Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro – Am was held in March this year and involved many local businesses through very generous sponsorship. With the Pro – Am attracting Professionals, amateurs and spectators from all over the State it was a great event for the local community. The Club is very proud and honoured to be able to support an event of this size and we will continue to host the event in the future.
The Portarlington Golf Club is now recognised as one of the best Golf Courses on the Bellarine Peninsula and the entire Geelong Region, Club Professional Mathew Milne said “Winning the Best Regional Golf Course for the second year in a row is a huge achievement and will attract many new Members to the Club”.
Course Superintendent, Steve Burchette said “our Greens Staff have done a fabulous job in presenting a top class Golf Course not only for the Pro – Am but for Members all year round”.
Club CEO Ron Stockdale said “not only do we present a top Golf Course but we offer a great venue for a complete experience in Sport and Leisure activities”
