Captains Report with Alan Sweeney at 10th February 2016

A little sad news to begin with, long time member Bill Richards passed away a few days ago, all our thoughts go to his wife and family.

On a better note, David Hyslop won the February Monthly Medal with a nett 67 on a count back from Rob Green, Don English and John Mathews. The great scores just keep coming.

The Pro Am is fast approaching, and with both the morning and afternoon fields full, it should be a great day. Just a note, we are still looking for a few more volunteers, the list is on the notice board if any one is able to assist on the day.

I would like to congratulate the Junior pennant team for winning their second round match, well done to all players. Also, one of our Veterans Pennant Teams commenced their season on Monday and had a good win to start their campaign, well done guys. The other team had a bye.

The Mens senior pennant team have commenced practice for their season, commencing in March. I am hopeful that we can get some photos on the home page so Members can get familiar with the guys. It would be nice to see members out giving the guys some support when the season begins. Caddies would be also great.

Last but not least, a belated congratulations from the match committee to Max Edmanson on winning the Nett event at the recent Victorian Junior Open, well done Max.

Members don’t forget, the E J Whitten event is on Friday the 19th of February. Entries are still available.

Captains Report with Alan Sweeney at 25th January 2016

Well, the rain has been a welcome sight and the course has come up a treat over these last few days.

I am pleased to say the pro-am from the amateur side of the draw is now full, however emergency places are still available, and the professional numbers are also looking good at this stage with a few more expected over the next few weeks.

Please note, the volunteers list is up on the notice board, and we would like a few more members to put their hand up to assist those that are already on the list. Any issues give me a call to discuss.

Captains Report with Alan Sweeney,Tuesday 19th January

142 players took to the course, with Leigh Wilson taking out B Grade and the TOD with 43 points. Doug Hill won A grade, Paul Brewin C Grade and Ian Morris won D Grade. Congratulations to all winners.

Interesting point, J W Bowman (alias Mr Hollywood) won the pro pin, not only winning with a great shot, he actually birdied the hole with his brand new Scotty Cameron putter, which he said he could not use! What can I say??

Over 350 players contested the W Carlos Summer Cup over the three weeks of the event and the eventual winner with 117 points was Daniel Hopgood. Three players tied for second, Ken Paterson, Terry Powell and Ray Hazell on 114, and Jeremy Owens was two points further back on 112. Just goes to show, consistency is the key to winning big events.

Although there was a few issues with the drop zones and new works around the 14th and 18th this will be resolved as soon as possible. Please check the notice boards on the pro shop wall adjacent to the toilet for further information.

Well done to the Junior Pennant side won their first game last Sunday.
