Five members of the Portarlington Golf Club travelled to the Commonwealth Golf Club to compete in the Golf Victoria Heart Open on Monday 6th of June. They were Kathy Carroll, Peter Hahn, Lorne Chandler, Adrian Higginbotham and Gordon Mainsbridge.
Golf was played in cold and windy conditions with a field of approximately 140 players competed in the annual event.
All the members from Portarlington G.C. did well. Gordon Mainsbridge won the event with 37 stableford points, taking the trophies for The Overall Champion Player, the Open Heart Surgery section and the Don Lawrence Trophy which will stay in the Portarlington Club House until next year. This is Gordon’s second year as champion - what an achievement!
Any person, who has had any type of heart surgery, and wishes to compete in the event next year should contact either Adrian Higginbotham or Gordon Mainsbridge. The event is going to be held in March 2017 at Yarra Yarra Golf Club.
