Captain of the Day

Pace of play is a continual issue at all golf courses and the committee is always looking to improve round times and thus the enjoyment on the golf course.

On all competition days effective from 2 July 2016 the lowest handicapped player in each group will be designated the captain of the group for the day.

The role of the captain is to ensure that:

· Players keep up with the group in front i.e. not in front of the group behind

· All mobile phones are on a silent mode and only to be used on the course for emergencies

· Whilst waiting to putt that pug marks are repaired

· No scratching marks on greens

· Each person rakes the bunkers after playing from the sand

· Following players are called up on compulsory call-up greens

· The principles of ‘ready golf’ are adopted

Examples of ready golf:

· READY GOLF if the fairway is free in front some one hit off do not sit down and mark your card

· Hitting a shot if the person furthest away is faced with a challenging shot and is taking a time to assess their options

· Shorter hitters play first off the tee

· Where possible putt rather than mark the ball

· Putting out if another person is delayed due to raking a bunker

Non adherence to the above will result in penalties being applied in line with the rules of golf.

It is important that all members support the above proposals and recognise and support the role of their group captain so that all members can enjoy their round.
