Captains Report with Ian McAuliffe 15th September 2016
All the best for all players competing in the upcoming Club Championships.
I would like members to be aware of the following ruling:
6.6d in the rules of golf
“The competitor is responsible for the correctness of the score recorded for each hole on his scorecard. If he returns a score for any hole lower than actually taken, he is disqualified. If he returns a score for any hole higher than actually taken, the score as returned stands.”
Please note, on our scorecards, the written number (not the number in the red bubble), is the score that is calculated.
Captains Report with Ian McAuliffe 5th September 2016
After another very successful Carnival of Golf, I would like to personally thank all the volunteers that helped (over 50!). Congratulations to Robbie White winning the Mens 36 Hole Championship for a third time, in the strongest field that has ever competed. The event had an average handicap of 8.5 overall - with players of a six handicap or more finding themselves in “B Grade”. A big thanks to Matt, Tyson and Fiona for all their help during the Carnival, especially at the end of every days events. A special thanks to Jan Cogger and Donna Utt for assisting with the presentations and putting together the trophy table.
The September monthly medal was won by Dave Ash with a score of 69, congratulations.
Al Sweeney is regrettably not seeking re-election due to his ongoing health treatment. We wish him all the very best for the future. The committee election process has begun - please see the noticeboard in reception regarding nominations and positions available.
Captains Report with Acting Captain Ian McAuliffe 9th August 2016
Congratulations to Neil Vanoosten on winning the August monthly medal with a score of 68 on a count back from Brendan King.
Further congratulations to Neil Ryan and Colleen Butler on winning the Arch Baker Mixed 4BBB Board Event last Sunday, with a great score of plus 8.
The course is still in great condition, considering the amount of rain we’ve had; we must thank Steve and their team for their efforts. The course is looking well on its way to being in tip-top condition for the Carnival of Golf.
Volunteers are still needed for the Carnival of Golf. Please put your name on the noticeboard in the foyer.
The June Monthly Medal was won by Colin Isbel with a net 66. Colin also took out A grade, well done Colin, Gavin Whyley was in the mix with a great score of 72 off the stick for a nett 68.
The 6th round of the Mens eclectic was played on Saturday, and things are hotting up at the top with 8 players sharing the top 5 spot. With only four more rounds to go watch this space, it could be anyone’s.
To finish, the Match Committee has agreed to put in some measures in an attempt to address slow play. This will come into operation on Thursday 1 July, notices will be distributed when all the details are finalised.
