Local Rule Change 1st January 2017

Members please note as of the 1st of January 2017, Golf Victoria have recommended the following rule, and we will adopt this as a Local rule within our Club:

“Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1 are modified as follows:

When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment.

The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.

This Local Rule applies only when the player’s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.

Note: If it is determined that a player’s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location. A ball-marker moved in such circumstances is replaced.”

Success from the Ladies Christmas Break-Up 2016

“The Ladies from Portarlington Golf Club raised $852 from their Christmas Breakup for the Drysdale Family Support. The Drysdale Family Support Group also received a huge amount of groceries from the Ladies. A great effort from all on the day. Thank you so much” Bev Assendar, Ladies President.

LADY CAPTAIN’S REPORT – NOVEMBER 2016 With Jan Cogger

Congratulations to Karen Thomas for her eagle on the par 5 6th hole on Saturday 5 November. Great effort Karen.

It’s great to see a number of ladies taking the opportunity to play in the 9 hole competition on a Wednesday. Please alert the pro-shop if you wish to play in this comp.

A sea of green was the order of the day for the Irish 4 Ball Stableford competition on 16 November. Many green and a few orange outfits were donned by the ladies with some even opting for orange and green together. Talk about sitting on the fence!

The new cards and scanners are very easy to use – but as always don’t forget to ensure you have signed your card and confirm your score after checking that it is correct.

Well done to all the Portarlington ladies who competed in the A, B & C Grade district championships and huge congratulations to Sue Gregory for winning the June Gillivour Perpetual Salver B Grade Championship She was followed closely by Sonia Dall in 2nd place and Chris Trezise came in 5th. I’m sure June would have been very proud. Congratulations also to Angela Royal for winning the A Grade nett and Jenny Edmanson for taking out 3rd place on a countback in the Gross competition.

Just a reminder that the 2nd hole is a compulsory call up hole. Please be ready to tee off when those on the green call you.

The ladies’ Christmas Breakup is Wednesday 7 December. Get your name on the list in the locker room and be a part of a fabulous day starting with a fun morning of golf followed by lunch, raffles, annual awards, dancing, singing and giving to those less fortunate than ourselves – a big day!!!
