Captains Report February 2020.
Ladies and Gents, just a reminder that the Senior Social 9 holes held on Friday each month.
It would be great if we can increase the numbers. This is a great way to meet and get to know more members so try and give it a go. The next one is scheduled for Friday April 3. Come along and play with members you do not know.
I would like to thank Steve Burchett and his staff for presenting the course in excellent condition considering the number of rounds the course has had over February. We have had nothing but praise for the course presentation. You will find a detailed report from Steve in Chip Shots.
I guess most members would have seen the Chip Shots report and there is news from the Committees last meeting so I will not elaborate on what was reported.
First of all, to the team of Angela Foot, Jeanette Barclay and Jen Champion winning the Barwon Bowl, with Angela winning the overall trophy.
The winner of the Ladies Sumner plate was Judith Webber,
All other February trophy winners are all mentioned in Chip Shots, On behalf of the Committee and myself congratulations to all winners.
Now the next person I would like to mention and deservedly so. Our member Peter De Fazio broke his age of the stick last Thursday (February 27), Peter had 43 stableford points which related to a 79 gross score, Peter on behalf of the Committee and myself congratulations on a great score and winning A grade on the day. Hopefully there will be many more.
Saturday February 29 medal day and proved to be a great contest between numerous players who all had a chance of winning the medal, however, we can only have one winner and that was John Powell although on a count back from four other players, well done John it is not easy winning medals.
The Committee would like to trail Competitions from two tees. The Committee feels that this would be a great benefit to the players who have lost some length from advancing years, also younger members who are just starting out and finding it a little hard to carry certain areas of the course.
Dates for the trial have not been set but will be announced as soon as possible.
I have drawn up an explanation of how it would operate and hopefully we can get a few dates in the fixture over this next month or so.
Also, Male members, the handicap knockout competition is on again entry form on the notice board in the pro shop.
Rule of the Month.
Searching for a ball
A player’s ball is found by another player 2 minutes and 50 seconds after she began searching for the ball. It takes the player 30 seconds to identify it as hers. As the ball was identified after the three minute search time had finished the ball is considered lost
TRUE or FALSE?
Finally, when was the last time members have read the Local Rules? These have changed recently with the addition of an OOB on the 10 hole. Check it out.
Good Golfing
