To all members,
I have delayed my Captains report this month as I wanted to wait until the new Committee had our first meeting on the 4th of November. As most Members would know we have a new President J W Bowman. Congratulations to John.
I am pleased to announce that we have three new Committee members being, Norma Vogel, Angela Foott and Justin McGrath. Welcome all to the Committee.
The Committee’s Photo will go up on the Kiosk as soon as we can arrange.
One other reason for the delay is one of the agenda items for the meeting was the changing of the yellow markings to red markings at the 18th green penalty area. By changing the markings from yellow to red gives the members an extra option of relief.
The Committee feels that this will remove the confusion on how to take relief from this penalty area. We will implement the changes after the Club Championships on December 1.
Just a reminder, that the Men’s Club Championships (CC) commence Saturday 14 November and the Ladies on 18 November. Hopefully by the end of the Championships we will be able to have more members in the club so we can have presentations after the final round on Sunday 29 November.
It has been brought to my attention that Members are taking greater relief in bunkers than one card length. The local rule that was implemented some time ago allows for one card length only.
The ground staff are now working on the bunkers again so one card length should be adequate. I don’t think it will be too long before we have rakes back, however, we will have to wait for advice from Golf Australia. In the meantime we request that all players smooth out the bunkers after they played their shot with their club or feet around where they stood in the bunker.
