Dear Members,
Firstly I would like to congratulate two of our members - Trung Truong, who completed 72 holes and Tremayne Kaiser, 54 holes in a day, raising money for Charity, great effort guys and well done from all the Committee.
As members would know, a survey was distributed asking them for their thoughts on the Club Championships held in November last year. Over two hundred members completed the survey and the results were very positive with over 45% of the returned forms agreeing that last years format was successful and should remain.
Over the next few months the Committee will review all the returned forms and look at ways that we can improve the event going forward. I would like to thank all the members who took the time to complete the survey.
Some months ago both the Ladies and Men held their respective knockout competitions. Unfortunately the Men took forever due to the COIVD restrictions, hopefully this won’t happen this year.
With the Men’s Knockout I am proposing to the Committee for approval that we change the format and rename the event the W Hemsworth Trophy. The W Hemsworth is a Board event and played as a 4BBB Par. It used to run over two consecutive days but due to lack of players on the second day it was changed to a one day event.
I am proposing we have two rounds of qualifying on consecutive Saturdays and the top 36 pairs play off in a match play format with the winners being crowned the W Hemsworth champions. The event will be closely monitored and the dates set for each round will have to be completed by that day. Further info to follow closer to the time of the event which is normally held in May.
To finish I am proposing a Friday afternoon nine and dine event commencing mid to late February and running up until the end of daylight saving if the numbers are good. The finer details will be discussed with the CEO and the Golf Committees Board representative. As soon as the details have been agreed we will start promoting the events on the Clubs web site and around the Club House.
Happy Golfing
Captain Al and the Committee.
