Board Members

  • Congratulations to newly appointed Board Members Jenny Edmanson and Gordon Atkins.
  • A big thank you to retiring members, David Bond and Brian King for their many years of service to our Club.

Golf Committee

  • Congratulations to all new members and the appointments of Captain Alan Sweeney, Vice-Captain Jill Barker.  Click here to read the December Captains Report.
  • Golf Victoria has put out a call for volunteers to assist during the Vic Open on Feb 6th - 9th, 2020 so be sure to visit their website and put your name down if you are interested.
  • Pennant practice/training sessions are being conducted by Tyson Myers for all levels of pennant players over the next few weeks.

Tournament Committee

  • The Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro Am will be on Tuesday the 4th of February 2020.  Be sure to mark the event on your calendar and look out for entry forms which will be available in the next couple of weeks.
  • The Tournament Committee is reviewing the Carnival of Golf to ensure that the events maximise opportunities for people to play, as over past years, players are turned away due to full fields.
  • Sponsors and Volunteers Day was held Friday the 29th of November, with a great day had by all who attended.  Gentsomes was the golf format of the day which was almost as well received as the lamb cutlets for lunch.  We are very appreciative of the continued support we receive from both our sponsors and volunteers throughout the year, thank you.
Maintenance

The following works have been undertaken over the past few months:

  •  Jockey pump repairs completed and all in working order. Irrigation has been front and centre as repairs have been attended to and we have extended the irrigation to areas that had not been covered. This helps maintain turf on the edges of fairways and surrounds in warmer months. A review of irrigation pumps replacement is underway
  • Power supply has been updated and capacity to run generators and pumps as needed.
  • 14th hole LHS fairway - trying to grow couch grass with soil placement.
  • 9th hole - new turf in front of green taking hold and improving.
  • 15th hole had a leak in water pipe. Pipe repaired and new turf laid.

Clubhouse Operations and Renovations

  • The operations of the clubhouse are performing at budget levels despite the renovations that are underway.
  • Administration will move into their new offices on Tuesday 3rd of December, which will allow the eastern side of the bistro to return to regular operations.
  • The new northern end of the bistro is due for completion on the 19th of December, which will give an extra seating capacity of 112 for the bistro.
  • Stage 2 of the Renovations at the eastern end of the clubhouse is due for completion in May 2020 and will have a seating capacity of 180 people.
  • We request that golfers refrain from parking near the buggy shed during renovations to assist with deliveries and worker's vehicles.
  • A big thank you to all our staff during this time for their ongoing professionalism and maintaining a positive attitude.

Club History and Memorabilia

  • Our new history and memorabilia kiosk is located behind reception and is fully operational.  It is a wonderful resource for our members and visitors to our Club. Please take the time to see your name on the honour boards, reminisce through the many photos or learn about the fires and floods that the Club has had to endure. Tony Meagher has done a terrific job collating the information, which incidentally continues to evolve as more history is now being brought in by members as a result of the kiosk.
  • New Club Honour Boards will be put up in the northern area of the bistro early in 2020.

May I take this opportunity to wish all our members a very Merry Festive Season. We look forward to welcoming you into our new clubhouse area over the coming months.
