The forced closure of our Business effective Monday 23rd March 2020 and the further announcement closing all Golf operations effective Sat 28th March 2020, is devastating.

This crisis is affecting every Australian and most people around the world and we are only a small part of the overall pain that we are all suffering. A meeting of all our staff on Monday 23rd March took place to inform them that their jobs were not lost but their positions were stood down for an unspecified period.

Prior to this crisis unfolding, our Club enjoyed record trading for the last 3 years, and the first 8 months of this financial year has been our best ever period. Our cash position is very strong and with Government stimulus we will be doing everything possible to ensure our long-term future.

The Clubs building programme is in the last stages of completion and provided that the construction industry is not restricted by the crisis we should see the completion in June/July 2020. The Club has a strong relationship with our Bank and again the strong financial position of your club will ensure that this project will be completed.

For the short term, the next 3-4 months is very uncertain, the overriding focus is to beat this virus and get back to normality as soon as possible. We will provide our Members with advice on when our golfing operation will re-open, and I suspect that this will happen prior to our clubhouse operation.

These are unprecedented times in our lives and we are making decisions that are very difficult, but at the end of the day these decisions are necessary and please appreciate that things change very quickly in this environment and what is decided one day, may change the next.

Stay safe please.

Ron Stockdale

Chief Executive Officer

Renovations Continue

Whilst our facilities are closed, we are pleased to advise that the build of our large function room continues at this stage. We will look forward to welcoming your return when we re-open and we wish to thank all our members, staff and visitors for your support during this time. We will continue to keep you informed as things evolve during these changing times.

Ronnie's Rocking On

Our CEO for the past 9 years, Ron Stockdale has advised the Board that he will be retiring effective 4 November 2020.

Ron and his team have performed at the highest level and we owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his leadershipand management skills which have placed our club in the strong financial position we are in today.

The Board recently advertised for a replacement CEO and I am pleased to announce that Michael Phillips has been appointed to the role.  Michael was the CEO at Ballarat Golf Club and more recently he occupied the position of General Manager, Harbord Diggers and Manly Bowling Club.

Michael brings over 25 years experience in golf club management, hospitality and gaming. He will commence his new role in late October this year and during coming months he will be consulting at other clubs and he will be involved with several projects at our club.

We will organise in coming months for members to meet with Michael prior to his commencement.

The Board is delighted to have secured a person with the experience and skill set that Michael possesses. Ron has taken our golf club to a level and in coming years we expect Michael to take us to the next level. There will be challenging and exciting times ahead.
